Question:
Anyone know what the best insect repellent is for
mosquitos (e.g. Anopheles/malaria mozzies) ?
Someone recommended "DOOM" but apparently it has
been taken off the market for being unsafe!
Anyone know why ? Did it contain "DEET" & if so
is DEET unsafe?
Answer:
-In my experience, repellents with a high concentration of DEET work better
than anything else. I only use these when the concentration of biting bugs
is very high, but I've found myself using them more frequently now that West
Nile has become more prevalent. Here's some info from the EPA about DEET:
http://www.epa.gov/opp00001/citizens/deet.htm
Most of these repellents are bad for your fly line, so make sure you're well
away from it when spraying.
-3m Ultrathon is real, real good..... i've used it religiously this
summer and haven't suffered any insect bites. it has deet so be careful
around fly lines and cell phones.
3m has a spec sheet at:
http://www.3M.com/market/consumer/scianglers/box_ultrathon.jhtml
only the spray is available at this time which we have in stock at:
http://www.ezflyfish.com/ulinrep.html
..... the lotion is in another production run and should be available
again soon.
