Question:
. I would like to enjoy my garden but my one
acre swamp and this wet spring are making leisurely walks outside
unbearable. I have been searching the web for days and I am surprised at
the dearth of information on these new fangled propane mosquito traps. Does
anyone have any practical experience with them? Do they work? Any
recommendations as to models? I'd like to keep the cost around $300 or so,
but at that price point I want to make sure I get something that works.
Answer:
The Mosquito Magnets work. My neighbor has one. Their yard is a swamp.
At that price, look at the Mosquito Defender by American Biophysics. It's
$295 at Lowes or Home Depot, can't remember which, or there are plenty of
them on Ebay. It claims to work on 1/2 acre. With your price limitation, I
don't know if you'll find anything that will clear a full acre. The
Mosquito Magnet Liberty ($495) claims to clear an acre, but that's more than
you say you want to spend.
