Hot Sauce Insect Repellent?

Question:
Hot Sauce Insect Repellent? Will spraying the leaves of my plants keep leaf-eating bugs away from them?

Answer:
-Just a video of my favorite "Hot Sauce Insect Repellent" commercial:

http://www.tabasco.com/html/mosquito_super_novote.html

You'll be the one to decide what to do with 'yer hot sauce... whether to sit back and enjoy it on pizza, chicken wings, ribs, or waste it in a sprayer bottle... whatever.... me, I just sit on the back deck with a gallon jar of Tabasco (with the cap off -- seems to work better than citronella) -- while nibblin' on all the stuff listed above -- to help ward off the skeeters!

-Maybe.....there's too many variables here. What kind of plants, what kind of insects, what's the climate and the time of year, etc, etc. No one spray is going to repel all insects, not all insects need to be repelled, and some plants can be harmed by indiscriminate spraying.

As far as I know, commercial hot pepper wax sprays are meant to used as a small mammal repellant.
