Question:
Mosquitoes in our back yard resist best efforts and are fierce after the
rains recently. What is the best spray, granules or whatever you have found
effective in backyard plantings to control the pests?
Answer:
-Get some dry ice, put it into a cup of water. After the skeeters are
attracted by the
carbon dioxide, suck 'em up with a big fan, push them into a cloth bag and
kill them.
-I just saw a news article about the mosquito problem in Houston due to
the recent flooding. I feel for you guys over there. There is a
machine that attracts mosquito's with carbon dioxide and then traps
them inside where they die a long painful death. I believe there are
two models with the largest covering up to an acre. Mosquito's
supposedly only travel short distances from where they are born, so
one of these machines may work.
-Kinda goes with what I said before. Drop a piece of dry ice in a cup of
water
when the wind speed is a couple of miles an hour. Drop a Kleenex to gauge
wind speed and direction.
And have a seriously big fan, with cheesecloth behind it to catch them. Turn
it on when enough have gotten near the cup, close to the fan. Run it a
minute,
kill the ones you've caught, then do it again.
