Question:
just a short info. There is a new mosquito repellent. All natural and effective.
Take a look at http://www.i-technology.bz/mosquito-repellent.html
Answer:
How about comparing it to 29% DEET instead of 6.65% DEET.
I don't know too many who use that low % of DEET.
DEET works. Period. Huge amounts of money and time have been devoted
to research to find an alternative to DEET and nothing else is as
effective.
NOTHING!
From the New England Journal of Medicine quote on YOUR website:
"Conclusions Currently available non-DEET repellents do not provide
protection for durations similar to those of DEET-based repellents and
cannot be relied on to provide prolonged protection in environments
where mosquito-borne diseases are a substantial threat."
End Quote.
From the EPA:
"EPA recently issued a Reregistration Eligibility Decision (RED) for
the chemical DEET. After completing a comprehensive re- assessment of
DEET, EPA concluded that, as long as consumers follow label directions
and take proper precautions, insect repellents containing DEET do not
present a health concern."
"DEET's most significant benefit is its ability to repel potentially
disease-carrying insects and ticks. The Centers for Disease Control
(CDC) receives nearly 10,000 reports of Lyme disease (transmitted by
deer ticks) and 1,000 reports of encephalitis (transmitted by
mosquitoes) annually. Both of these diseases can cause serious health
problems or even death in the case of encephalitis. Where these
diseases are endemic, the CDC recommends use of insect repellents when
out-of-doors. Studies submitted to EPA indicate that DEET repels ticks
for about three to eight hours, depending on the percentage of DEET in
the product."
"Repel" w/29% DEET, 6.5 oz. costs less than $3.00. Your alternative is
$8.99 + shipping and isn't nearly as effective.
