Question:
Does anyone have any experience or info on a mosquito repelling plant?
Answer:
-see citronella and how to prepare oil of citronella in a herb reference
book.
-I have seen ads for a type of citonella geranium that claims to repeal
skeeters and other pesky critters. I have been told by many landscapers
that this is a crock. The only thing I have found that keeps them away are
tobacco plugs. You can burn them for about one-half hour before guests
arrive and they stay away for about two hours.
-Southernwood repells moths, maybe it repells mosquitoes.
It has a very strong scent, so if it doesn't repell them -
it probably attracts them - so BEWARE.
-There is a scented geranium that smells like citronella. Many people
use citronella candles to ward off mosquitoes. This genarnium plant
can be found in mail order catalogs (I think I've seen it in Burgess
and Michigan Bulb), usually under the name of mosquito plant.
